There is an ongoing global fad that Colon cleansing is the most effective and reliable way to drop the extra pounds.
I am almost tempted to jump on the bandwagon, but I am usually a doubting Thomas, I like to research and find out all the different theories on a subject matter.
What is Colon Cleansing: These are a number of alternative medical therapies intended to remove fecal waste and unidentified toxins from the colon and intestinal tract. Colon cleansing may be done with water mixed with herbs or other liquids water or by taking dietary supplements.
Many Practitioners believe colon cleansing removes accumulations of feces from the walls of the large intestine which are believed cause fatigue, headaches, loss of appetite and irritability.
Is there any real scientific evidence supports the alleged benefits of colon cleansing? Many answer no to this!
The bowel is meant to clean itself naturally without need for assistance.
Some types of colon cleansing may present potential hazards such as;
1. Equipment used during colon cleansing has caused damage to the rectum in a small number of individuals.
2. Certain fluid preparations for colon cleansing have been associated with heart attacks and electrolyte imbalances.
3. Frequent colon cleansing may interfere with the proper functioning of the colon and can lead to dependence on laxatives or enemas to defecate.
4. Some of the herbs used may also interfere or reduce the efficacy of prescription drugs.
So be very careful weigh all available cleansing procedures or offers before you decide to subscribe to any one of them.
If you are like me you may decide to stick with our dear old friend "Water".
